New Patellofemoral Pain Podcast Series

Alice is a runner and competitive Hyrox athlete who has been struggling with Patellofemoral Pain (PFP) for several years. Initially it was episodic, but this year it’s become a more persistent issue that’s affecting her sport.

For Alice, sport is life. It’s her source of fitness, a tonic for her mental health and where she connects with her social circle. So when previous therapists advised her to stop, she was understandably very reluctant and decided to seek help elsewhere.

I know you’ll see lots of patients like Alice in clinic, struggling with pain but desperate to continue their sport as it means so much to them. So I got together with my good friend David Pope of Clinical Edge to create a series on Patellofemoral Pain with a focus on real solutions for real patients.

Episode 1 is available now, and you can access it for free using this link or by clicking the image below:

In this episode, you’ll learn more about our case study, Alice and how we helped reduce her pain while maintaining her sport. This podcast includes:

  • Our framework for managing PFP and other running injuries
  • Load management solutions you can apply in clinic
  • A step-by-step approach to finding the training and running “sweet spot” for injured runners
  • How to keep athletes connected to their sport during rehab (and why it matters so much!)
  • Important considerations in building a weekly training routine
  • How to avoid flare-ups using the ‘layering’ approach

Visit the podcast page, and you can also download my Running Injury Assessment Sheet that I use with every runner to ensure we capture all the information we need to form a successful rehab plan.

The beauty of a podcast is you can enjoy it on the go. My personal preference is to head out for a walk in the fresh air, grab a coffee on the way and listen on my headphones.

However you choose to do it I recommend diving in as soon as you can because part 2 will be available later this week! Keep a look out for that, we’ll be sharing it on running-physio later this week!
