Alice, our case study with PFP, is doing really well! We’ve adjusted her training to help reduce her pain (discussed in Episode 1). She now understands her injury and how to manage it (covered in Episode 2) and has an effective rehab plan that fits her schedule (see Episode 3).
Now, in part 4 of our series, we have a vital final step… getting Alice back to her best with a successful return to running.
This can be the hardest part to get right! It’s also the most rewarding for us and the patient. Few things are more satisfying in athlete care than watching their running distances climb each week and seeing them get back to the sport they love.
Listen to Episode 4 to help get your patients up and running!
I’ve really enjoyed making this podcast series and providing an overview of my treatment approach to runners but there’s so much more I want to share with you! That’s why we recorded a live webinar, The 4 Pillars of Lasting Recovery in Runners with Clinical Edge, building on the 4 pillars approach with practical evidence-based advice to help you get great results with runners, including:
- A joined-up approach to treating PFP that addresses psychosocial factors, physical impairments, biomechanics and return to sport.
- The latest Best Practice Guide on PFP and how to apply it with athletes
- A 3-stage rehab plan with hip and knee targeted exercises you can use with your patients
- How to explain PFP and key messages for patients
- 4 common running gait factors that can aggravate knee symptoms
- New research recommendations on resistance training and how they influence your practice
- Return to running in detail, including increasing distance, restoring speed and tackling hills!
