When it comes to tendinopathy a couple of tendons hog the limelight! The Achilles is probably the main culprit, and gluteal tendinopathy has been centre stage recently too. But what about the lesser-known tendon issues? How do you manage peroneal tendinopathy, posterior tibial tendon dysfunction or hip flexor tendon pain? What are the key assessments and treatment strategies? How can you progress rehab?

There’s very little research to guide us with this so it’s easy to feel a bit stuck when seeing patients with these conditions. You’re not alone though, we ran a survey and found that challenging tendinopathies were top of people’s list of things they’d like help with! That’s why we’ve developed a brand new video series for you…

Tendons is about how we can help people with these lesser-known tendinopathies and Part 1 starts with a case study that we’ll follow through the series. Her story highlights treatment principles that you can apply to any patient with lower limb tendinopathy.

In Part 1 of Tricky Tendons you’ll learn:

  • Why history and mechanism of injury are important
  • Subgroups to look out for that will influence rehab
  • Key objective assessments
  • Psychosocial factors in tendon pain
  • Core treatment strategies and how to progress
  • Answers to common questions about scans, injections and shockwave therapy

Part 2 is coming soon and will build on what you’ve learned with specifics about peroneal tendinopathy treatment including pathology and pain, the role of orthoses and options for gait retraining and footwear. Then we’ll have Part 3 for you, featuring hip flexor and adductor tendinopathy and a great selection of rehab videos.

After we’ve shared these free videos with you we’ll be opening up registration for Running Repairs Online, our online course designed to help you become a leading therapist for runners in your area.

Click here to watch Part 1 in the series and we’ll let you know as soon as Part 2 is available.
