Our articles are not designed to replace medical advice. If you have an injury we recommend seeing a qualified health professional. To book an appointment with Tom Goom (AKA ‘The Running Physio’) visit our clinic page. We offer both in-person assessments and online consultations.

Trying to change our habits and behaviour is hard. You’ll know this yourself – think of something you’ve tried to change, maybe exercising a bit more, drinking a bit less or eating more healthily. Was it easy? Did you get stuck?

Even when our motivation is high creating long term change in our lives is difficult. As clinicians, we’re often trying to facilitate that change to help a patient to achieve their goals. So how do we help them to adhere to the shared plan we’ve created and get the results they want? We discussed 4 key strategies in our BJSM editorial which I expanded on in our recent video.
