Our articles are not designed to replace medical advice. If you have an injury we recommend seeing a qualified health professional. To book an appointment with Tom Goom (AKA ‘The Running Physio’) visit our clinic page. We offer both in-person assessments and online consultations.

It’s pretty common for a runner to come and see me in clinic clutching a bag bulging with a selection of different running shoes. They’ve road shoes, race shoes, trail shoes and a pair they bought purely because they liked the colour!

Rob Salter’s impressive shoe collection (well, part of it!)

Once they’ve fished them out of the bag they have a question they’re keen for you to answer, “Which shoes are best for my specific injury?”

In our video below we’ll help you answer this question and discuss shoe selection options for:

  • Tibialis anterior pain
  • Calf, Achilles and tibialis posterior issues
  • Patellofemoral pain
  • Great toe pain and metatarsalgia

Our online course has a module devoted to running shoe selection. Find out more about Running Repairs Online at clinicaledge.co/runningrepairs
