Our articles are not designed to replace medical advice. If you have an injury we recommend seeing a qualified health professional. To book an appointment with Tom Goom (AKA ‘The Running Physio’) visit our clinic page. We offer both in-person assessments and online consultations.

Mike Reiman is one of the good guys! He’s also a top clinician and prolific researcher. I’ve chosen to feature him on the site today to share some of his excellent studies. I enjoy Mike’s work, it has real use in clinic as well as advanced theory. Here’s a small selection to get stuck into!…

Reiman and Lorenz (2011) – excellent paper on integrating strength and conditioning with rehab.

Reiman et al. (2012) – A great literature review of EMG studies for Glute Max and Glute Med exercises.

Reiman and Thorborg (2014) – clinical examination and assessment of hip pain in athletes. Mike also reviewed the diagnostic accuracy of the clinical test in this BJMS piece, complemented nicely with these accompanying hip examination videos.

Mike’s also done some great work in tendinopathy with this piece on clinical measures for the diagnosis of achilles tendon injuries. He’s also one of my co-authors for our upcoming paper on Proximal Hamstring Tendinopathy, watch this space for that!

If you’d like to see more of Mike’s work follow him on Twitter – @MikeReiman – check out his researchgate profile or read his excellent book;
