I try to keep my ear to the ground when it comes to new running research. It’s good to stay up to date and have new knowledge to apply to help runners in clinic and to share with fellow therapists.

One paper that caught my eye recently was a systematic review from Menéndez et al. (2020) who explored risk factors for Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS).

MTSS is a condition that continues to confuse and confound clinicians so I’ve explored their findings and what it means for us in clinic in the video below. In this video, I discuss running gait factors, foot posture and why MTSS may be more common in female runners. Plus we look at what treatment options may help address some of these factors including gait retraining, load management and orthoses.
