Serious pathologies can be easy to miss, in fact, less than half of the people who completed our recent shin pain quiz were able to identify the high-risk injury.

For athletes with shin pain, the diagnosis really does matter and has a big impact on many aspects of treatment which is why we’ve made it the focus of Part 2 of our Solving Shin Pain series.

In Part 1, you meet our case study and, like many runners, he wanted to know the underlying diagnosis and be sure it wasn’t anything more serious. To help patients like this we need to be aware of the different causes of shin pain including high-risk pathologies, how they present and the next steps to take.

We have all this covered for you and more in Part 2 of this free series.

In video 2 you’ll learn:

  • 4 categories of shin pain to guide your clinic reasoning
  • Key differential diagnoses and their signs, symptoms and objective tests
  • The 3 most common shin injuries you’ll see in clinic
  • A high-risk cause of shin pain that you mustn’t miss!
  • The role of investigations in each pathology

Plus we’ll follow up on our case study and his likely diagnosis as well as a recap on his training errors from Part 1. Watch Part 2 to find out if you spotted them all!
